In February 2022, former CD Projekt Red designers announced the formation of a new studio called Rebel Wolves. The team has announced that their first project will, unsurprisingly, be a role-playing game, and today we’ve learned some additional details about the game, including its title.
The game is called Dawnwalker and Rebel Wolf describes it as a “story-driven dark fantasy role-playing adventure”. Described as the team’s dream RPG project, the game has officially entered the alpha phase of development, and Rebel Wolves plans to release more information about it later this year.
The studio announced another CD Projekt alumnus, Mateusz Tomaskiewicz, as the game’s creative director. Tomaszkiewicz’s credits include Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
“We want to create a world you want to explore, immerse yourself in, and tell stories that make you care about the characters,” Tomaskiewicz said in a press release. “Our goal is to provide an experience that allows for different options and room for experimentation as we relaunch. My mission at Rebel Wolves will be to create this experience with so many talented people, and I can’t wait for everyone to see.” It’s something the team has wanted to do for a long time.”
Rebel Wolves hasn’t released any more information about Dawnwalker, so questions about its premise, narrative, mechanics, and platforming won’t be answered until later this year. Until then, the team has released a piece of promotional art posted above that aims to spark the imagination of what the team is cooking up.
