It’s worth noting that Samsung has 16GB of RAM in this early revision of the chip, like the Pixel 9 Pro. More RAM will be needed to support on-device generated AI like the Gemini Nano and its upcoming multimedia features.
What is more interesting is that Google was the exporter in Taiwan and Tessolv Semiconductor (provider of chip verification and testing) was the importer in India. Like TSMC, Google also has a significant hardware engineering presence in Taiwan, while a report last year found that most Tensor silicon engineers are based in India.
InFO_PoP, the industry’s first 3D wafer-level stack, features high RDL and TIV density to combine AP stacks with DRAM for mobile applications. Compared to FC_PoP, InFO_PoP has a thinner profile and better electrical and thermal performance due to the absence of organic substrate and C4 extrusion.
If development goes according to plan, the new chips would match the new design language of the Pixel 9 that Google has a new generation of phones.
