Digicam A free, open source digital photo management app available on Windows, macOS and Linux. The app has just been updated Version 7.7.0Added numerous new features, bug fixes and camera support.
DigiKam 7.7.0 supports AOM AV1 image file format (AVIF), an open source video coding format. It is similar to HEIF. The app adds read / write support for JPEG-XL image formats on all supported bundles. JPEG-XL support first appeared on digiKam 7.6.0, but there were some issues with animated files, which have now been resolved.
The update uses an updated Libraw version, the OM system supports the raw image files of the OM-1 camera. Digicam 7.7.0 has raw file support for more than 1,180 different cameras. The company further notes that the KDE Framework has been recently updated 5.95 release And Qt 5.15 LTS is used in Windows and macOS bundles.
9to5 Linux Report The latest version of Digicam includes enhanced support for SVG files, enhanced DNG file support, better GIF support, and Flatpak support. The software has a new ‘Ignore Face’ button for unfamiliar faces when using the app’s thumbnail view. Hugin Fixed issues with open-source panorama photo stitching and HDR merging program detection. Reading of raw DNG files from Adobe Lightroom has been improved which has been converted to sRGB color space and TIFF file format.
There are also many bugs and crash fixes. The team says there have been 64 bugs triaged.
Looking ahead, version 8.0.0 should be released as a beta test later this summer and a full release is expected later this year. The team is working to port the Gitmaster branch to the new Qt6 framework. Some students are also working to improve the neural network for the application Image Quality Analyzer. This feature works to analyze images based on sound, focus, exposure and compression.
