(Pocket-Lint) – Google has found a way to ease Microsoft’s hold on business and office by introducing a free layer of its workspace suite. Required starter, Which does not include Gmail.
You’ll be able to easily sign up with your existing work email, and even if you don’t get Gmail services, you can use Chat, Docs, Drive, Meet, Sheets and Slides. Google probably expects teams to be able to use Essential Starter in their legacy productivity tools, such as the Microsoft Office suite, when they want to improve team collaboration or start a new project.
So, if your company is all-in on Microsoft 365, to your annoyance, you can use only the necessary starter if you prefer. Of course, if your employer or other team members are more familiar with Excel and are completely out of Google Sheets, you may run into problems. The idea is, though, that some employees will be tempted to use Google’s app, and if Google can begin to pick employees from one company after another, perhaps more businesses will consider supplementing or completely replacing their productivity offerings with Workspace.
According to Google’s blog post, Users who sign up with their existing work email account can immediately start inviting their colleagues to work with them on the project, providing 15GB of Drive storage for each Google user. Employees can talk to each other through chat and meet. And when teams are limited to 25, an organization can sign up an unlimited number of teams.
Google says the Workspace Essentials starter is “launching for more than a week and may not be available in some regions until mid-February 2022”.
