Do you love sim racing so much that you’d spend $2,499 on a steering wheel?

Sim-Lab has just released a new version Steering wheel $2499 The company claims it is a replica of Lewis Hamilton’s wheel while driving the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team racing car. It’s a cool looking piece of hardware, but it reminds you that indulging in imitations can be dangerous to your budget.

If this price blows you away, don’t waste time buying. You can’t just plug the steering wheel into your computer and drive down the simulated streets of Montreal. Rather, it must be attached to a wheelbase that translates steering wheel rotation and button inputs while providing force feedback in a racing game. These can cost you several thousand dollars, and one is not included with this bike.

But what makes Sim-Lab’s new steering wheel so expensive? First, it received an official license from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, which shares computer-aided design (CAD) data to create the steering wheel for its multimillion-dollar car. The SIM Lab steering wheel is as close to racing as possible, without replacing Lewis Hamilton as the team’s driver when he moves to Ferrari next year.

The steering wheel body is also made of handmade carbon fiber. Not only does this help reduce weight by 1240 grams, but it is extremely stiff to ensure that the vibrations and resistance that the wheelbase creates are properly transmitted to the player’s hands. The steering wheel doesn’t squeal or jerk when you take a simulated curve at speeds above 150 mph.

Scattered across the steering wheel are nine rotary controls, 12 buttons, two switches, carbon fiber shift paddles, anti-static silicone rubber grips and 25 addressable RGB LEDs that provide telemetry data at a glance. And if that’s not enough data, there’s a 4.3-inch LCD display in the wheel center that matches the data layouts that Mercedes F1 drivers see.

To most of us this may seem like an obscene overkill, but for racing simulator enthusiasts looking to recreate a real F1 experience, the only thing missing seems to be race engineer Bono. tell them “Okay, Louis, it’s time to bang.”
