All Apex Legends mobile game modes and how they work
Here is a complete list of each game mode and what they do.
Battle Royale
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
Battle Royale is the default mode for Apex Legends Mobile and is unlocked by default. It features 60 players across 20 three-player squads. Players must find weapons on the map, there is no automatic shield recovery and the last squad wins. This is considered an unchanged playlist and wherever you go just to have fun.
Ranked match
Ranked matches are similar to Battle Royale matches, except that they are not ranked. There are seven ranks, each RP, or rank points can be earned by collecting. As an extra rub, you have to buy your way into any game with your RP. There is no need to buy an RP of the lowest level (Bronze).
The image above shows you various Apex Legends mobile tears. The top 750 players get a special rank called Apex Predator with some special prizes for doing this. We recommend bringing a squad with you as it can be a bit rough to do by yourself.
Multiplayer
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
Multiplayer is a 6v6 unclassified game mode. This is basically your basic slayer or deathmatch mode. Unlike its Battle Royale opponents, it has multiplayer responses, allowing players to select their loadout and retrieve automatic shields. This Apex Legends mobile mode has three sub-modes.
- Base Respawn – Players are resuscitated to a base location each time and fighting on the battlefield between two bases is encouraged. It unlocks five levels.
- Random response – Players respawn in random places around the map, but otherwise the rules are the same. It also unlocks Level Five.
- Arenas – Arenas is an extermination-style deathmatch and the number of players drops to 3v3. Two squads of three go into it until one squad is knocked out. It ends a single round of play. There is also a ring mechanic like Battle Royal mode which is randomized in each round.
Tutorial level
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
The tutorial level is quite self explanatory. You go through this tutorial mission when you first open the game and if you miss something the game gives you the option to do it again. As of this writing, the only option here is to redo the original tutorial mission.
Free practice
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
My favorite game mode in Apex so far is Free Practice Mode. Here all sub-modes allow players to complete missions alone or with a squad or test builds. Many players use this mode to check for changes in controller or virtual control or to test loadouts, specific weapons and more.
- Firing range – My personal favorite game mode. Those who have targets and bot opponents do not move. There is no point in this mode except to practice your goals, tweak your controls, and test different weapons, loadouts, and abilities. The mode is unlocked to all players.
- Mastery Mission – Mastery missions are missions where players try to complete challenges. The game treats mastery missions as a training mode and they refresh periodically. The mode is immediately unlocked for all players.
- Tutorial training – Tutorial trainings are similar to the master mission but with different purposes. You unlock tutorial training in six levels.
Limited time mode
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
Limited Time Mode shows you temporary game modes that are periodically refreshed. As of this writing, the options are Quick Battle and Flashpoint. Modes will pop up and disappear to help players do things other than base playlists.
- Quick match – Similar to Battle Royale, but you are born with a small ring to encourage instant fighting across all squads. The number of players has dwindled, though, so it’s not the kind of chaotic blood bath you’d think.
- Flashpoint – Also similar to Battle Royale. In this mode there are points around the map where players can come together to restore health and armor. Ideally, players get together and duke it out to control these valuable points.
- More to come – We will update the post when we can add other Apex Legends mobile game modes, when they come out.
How to choose a game mode to play
Joe Hindi / Android Authority
This is quite obvious, but if you have trouble changing the mode on Apex Legends Mobile.
- From the main screen, tap the button on the far left The game Which should show the current game mode.
- On the next screen, select the Game Mode section on the right, and then select the sub-mode (if applicable).
- Go back to the main screen and tap The game To load up the game.
We know you probably already know how to do this, but we’ve seen a lot of research on how to redo the tutorial mission in Apex, so we thought we’d include it here.

FAQ
Tap Game mode from the main menu and select Tutorial Level. Go back to the main menu screen and press play. That’s it. You can replay the original tutorial level as many times as you like.
Not really. There are some story elements scattered through some mastery missions, tutorials and other things. However, after all, Apex Legends Mobile does not have a dedicated story mode.
All game modes are unlocked by gaining player level. To make things easier, everything will open up when you reach level ten.
No. You must always be online, even in single player mode. The game actively keeps track of your pinging so if it detects that you’ve gone offline, it will try to reconnect. If the reconnection attempt fails, the game shuts itself down with an error code.
