Samsung Unpacked 2023: What Happens?
Galaxy Z Fold 5 und Z Flip 5
The biggest launches at this week’s Samsung event will be the new foldable devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Both devices are expected to be fairly iterative in their improvements, with most of the upgrades coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Samsung will fundamentally improve the Flip 5 with a new cover screen that is significantly larger than the Flip 3 and Flip 4. The screen is expected to support a full keyboard and more useful widgets, but it’s unclear if full apps will be supported.
Both devices will also feature upgrades like Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a new hinge that allows the foldable devices to close completely without leaving a gap, and some new colors and casings.
Galaxy Tab S9-Series
Samsung’s flagship tablets are also getting an unpacked update this year, with the Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra joining the lineage.
The biggest upgrade is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but there are other goodies beyond that, like eSIM support, AMOLED on the smaller models, and more. It’s a welcome change, as it’s been over a year since Samsung last launched its high-end Android tablets.
Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic
Finally, the other accessories at this week’s Fold/Flip 5 event are Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
There are only two notable changes to the standard Watch 6: a W930 chipset that’s said to be slightly faster, and thinner bezels that make room for a larger screen. The main memory has also increased from 1.5 GB to 2 GB.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will revive the physical rotating bezel, in addition to upgrades to the standard model.
It’s possible that these watches will also debut in Wear OS 4, which was announced at Google I/O and will bring many benefits, with one of the biggest benefits being the ability to connect to a new phone without resetting.
probably
Beyond the initial grid, there are a few more probably See more, but not much information is known.
Galaxy SmartTag 2
One of the most likely featured devices could be the Galaxy SmartTag 2. Samsung hasn’t released a new version of its tracker since the Galaxy S21 debuted two years ago. There are regulatory reports and guidelines on this new model, but we haven’t seen any leaked images, so no guarantees.
Samsung Headset XR
Samsung is rumored to launch its own mixed reality headset based on a new version of Android, which is expected to be available at the event. However, there are rumors that Samsung has delayed this device for a few months after the launch of Apple Vision Pro.
We definitely expected a little teaser.
Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy S23 FE
Samsung’s “Fan Edition” collections may return soon as the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy S23 FE variants are strongly hinted at. Although there is a chance of reaching this event, it is rare.
Galaxy Buds 3
It’s been a while since Samsung released a new pair of earbuds and there’s definitely a chance we’ll see a launch this week But there was only one report on this matter and no leaks. So we don’t expect to hear anything about it – no pun intended.
Reserve $50 off
Already a day before unpacking, Samsung is offering open reservations for the Fold, Flip and Tab S9 series. All of these devices come with a $50 pre-order credit that can be used to discount the device or accessory. Definitely worth signing up if you think you can pre-order
