Google last August rolled up A a bunch who are you Thrives Gboard for Android, and a few more are now coming to the keyboard, including the shortcut bar.

If we decompile these files (called APK files in case of Android apps), we will see different lines of code within these hints for possible future features. Currently, multiple tools, layouts and shortcuts are available by clicking the badge icon in the top right corner. Today’s menu includes: Settings, Themes, Edit Text, Clipboard, GIF, Float, One Hand, Translate, Share and Stickers. There is also a file Split keyboard when folded (but no tablets).
Gboard 12.1 went live in the beta channel today, revealing work on features that will reshape the band. RKBDI friend It has been activated successfully. The corner button is still a circle but now uses a 3×3 grid icon.
Meanwhile, shortcuts (or “access point” items, as they’re called) are now inside rounded rectangles that look a lot like Material Chips U (MD3). It’s not too different from Google Assistant’s voice input UI on Pixel phones (see cover image above). The background of each element is lighter than the keyboard, which is more visible in colorful themes.
You can now put another shortcut in the bar for a total of five, though Gboard is working on giving users the ability to adjust the number of impressions if they really need one or two. However, Gboard has the new cap due to the removal of the three dots/extras on the right and the use of the existing corner keys for input.
Google has redesigned this view with a tighter grid that is no longer centered. This allows for easy addition of more features in the future while giving the text editing layout a texture that updates itself with rounded corners for each button.
Another item you can update is the settings. MD3 switches are now in constant use while the main menu is getting bigger.
It’s unclear when Gboard will roll out the staff bar and other design changes broadly.
