Here’s an overview of what’s known about the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro so far.
On October 4th, 2023, Google will introduce the new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Some new information has come to light since the last summary a month ago. We know more about the two smartphones than we did then. Nevertheless, it should be noted that there are significantly fewer extensive leaks and prototypes in particular are appearing less often than before.
A lot has happened since our post in August. There was a leak about the storage variant, but nothing should change. The Pixel 8 Pro will likely have 512 GB, but the entry will stick to a narrow 128 GB. Of course, Google wants us to back up our photos and videos to Google Photos and store them in their cloud.
To talk about something. For example, Google Photos will bring the new Audio Magic Eraser. It allows you to remove annoying background noise from videos. Ultra HDR is also currently being integrated. Google is also revamping the Camera app, and some changes are already known, for example the new main switch for photos/videos
In the study, Google then confirmed more innovations, more or less directly. On the one hand, top photos for group photos, on the other, faster start and release of the camera app is promised. Another leak announced a night mode for videos.
But other apps also have improvements and not everything is known about them. What is clear, however, is the extension of Direct Commands for Google Assistant. You’ll probably be able to reply to incoming Messenger notifications with direct commands (except for “Hey Google”) via voice commands, which sounds like a pretty cool idea.
Hardware leaks, updates, market launches and prices
As you noticed, it was almost exclusively information about the software. In terms of hardware, the scope for leaks was minimal. Apart from the storage variants, it can be confirmed that there is still a common SIM slot.
In terms of color, the Pixel 8 Pro is based on the Pixel Fold. Around the same time, an official photo of the Pixel 8 Pro appeared on the Google Store and showed off the “porcelain” smartphone.
The FCC seems to clarify that UWB is only available on the Pixel 8 Pro. Information regarding an extended update guarantee has not yet been officially confirmed, but comes from a very good source. So far there are 3 (Android) and 5 years (security), which can make the Pixel 8 look much better.
And last but not least, a few days before this post, Google announced that it will introduce new devices on October 4, 2023. It has been fixed and you can note it in your calendar. With the last “leaked” prices, I would refrain from taking them as real.
