The final version of Android 13 is here, but the end of the beta is yet to be seen. This is related to the QPR update, which Google has been testing publicly in its own beta program for some time.
Quarterly Platform Releases are updates that are released for the Google Pixel every quarter along with Pixel feature drops. Google tests this firmware like the full Android version through its own beta program, and every Pixel owner can participate. That’s why the Android 13 beta is still active, even after the final Android 13 is released.
QPR updates will enter beta soon
Google the plant Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 will be available next September This is the first beta version for the quarterly update, which will roll out to all Pixel 4a and higher devices in December. Right now, the first Pixel feature drops are coming and the QPR updates are the foundation.
Anyone who doesn’t want to participate and is still participating in the beta program should uninstall their device quickly. Otherwise you are “trapped” in beta. Meanwhile, the beta program for Google Pixel runs almost non-stop and as early adopters we quite like it.
First a beta starts for the completely new Android version, then it moves on to the explained QPR update. Until the next Android version is announced. In between, usually in the spring, there is a beta for the next Android version and at the same time a beta for the next QPR update to the current Android version.
