How deeply do you feel about the end of the Lumia series? HMD Global may soon find a consolation.
Finnish manufacturer HMD Global, which is now known to be responsible for Nokia smartphones, seems to be relying on the design of the former Lumia series with its upcoming model codenamed “Skyline”. render leaky The Nokia Lumia 920 shows obvious similarities, one of the best-known representatives of the Lumia series. With a new version of the Nokia 3210, HMD is trying to capitalize on consumer nostalgia elsewhere.
The Skyline will appear in an attractive yellow case with angular shapes, strongly reminiscent of the characteristic design of Lumia smartphones. They were particularly popular in the early 2010s and stood out due to their distinctive appearance.
However, the Skyline isn’t limited to retro designs. It will also offer modern features like a punch-hole front camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor, which didn’t exist in the days of the Lumia 920.
The leaked technical information of the Skyline is also fine. It should have an OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate (but still unknown size), a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip and a triple camera with a 108 MP main sensor. A 4,900 mAh battery with 33 watts of charging power and an IP67 certification are also expected.
While Skyline naturally makes exciting headlines with its Lumia reminiscences, there are questions as to whether it will receive a positive response from users. At a time when many smartphones are visually indistinguishable, this retro look could present an interesting alternative – but bright yellow is definitely a matter of taste.
Official information about the price and availability of the Skyline is still pending. According to rumors, the smartphone could be released in July in an 8GB/256GB version for around 520 euros, although I’m not entirely sure if it’s really worth the hardware.
Apart from the “Skyline”, another smartphone, the “Atlas” is said to be in the works, but it is only supposed to be for the US market. Visually, it reminds me of cheap Redmi or Xiaomi phones.
