An update guarantee that’s too short and a design from the past – that’s what should score points with the HMD Skyline.
Skyline is the name of the new HMD smartphone and it actually sounds like progress at first, but in reality you’re just bringing an old smartphone design out of the basement. Visually, the new phone is reminiscent of the earlier Nokia era as it looks like some of the popular Lumia smartphones. But what was not bought a few years ago will sell well today?
It’s not really a creative idea, because apart from that, Skyline offers pretty good features It includes a 6.5″ 144 Hz OLED display with 1000 nits brightness, 50 MP front camera with OIS, 108 MP main camera with OIS, 13 MP ultra wide angle, 50 MP telephoto, 4,600 mAh battery with 33 W charging, wireless charging + Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage + microSD slot.
On the software side, it comes with Android 14 pre-installed and a disappointing guarantee of only 2 Android updates. Software support in particular doesn’t match the fact that the Skyline should also benefit from easy repairability.
