The global launch of the Honor Magic V2 is just around the corner: the manufacturer has confirmed that the foldable will debut in Europe at IFA 2023. This means that the slimmest foldable currently available is made in Germany. But what alternatives can the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 offer?
In mid-July, Honor officially introduced the Magic V2 for the Chinese market in Beijing. At the time of the presentation, it was already suspected that the foldable would also be announced for Europe at IFA 2023. The manufacturer has now officially confirmed the global launch. Accordingly, the device will be used directly at the start of the trade fair September 1 at 10 am The presented Honor advertises the Magic V2 as the slimmest foldable on the market. With a thickness of 9.9mm, it is significantly thinner than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Work is going on inside Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is supported by 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM. The manufacturer installs 256, 512 or 1,024 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The hardware is powered by a silicon-carbon battery, which despite the compact size of the device has a capacity of 5,000 mAh. The external OLED display measures 6.43 inches, has a FullHD+ resolution and offers a 120 Hz refresh rate. Inside is a 7.92-inch foldable OLED panel. The latter offers a QHD resolution, 120 Hz and native pen support.
On the back, Honor installs a Triple-camera-setup, whose main and ultra wide-angle cameras have a resolution of 50 MP. Both sensors have optical image stabilization. The third sensor, a telephoto lens with 2.5x zoom, has a resolution of 20 MP. It is not yet clear how much the Magic V2 will cost in this country. The predecessor was launched last year for 1,600 euros.
