(Pocket-Lint) – Whatever the reason for wanting to change your services, whether the artists are leaving the service, whether Spotify chooses to stand behind certain podcast hosts or Apple Music offers more features of your choice, you can take your music with you. You can. In fact, the same is true if you are looking for another provider, such as YouTube Music or Tidal. The process usually works for all popular providers.
The process is a bit different depending on whether you want to transfer using your iPhone, Android phone or a web browser. But regardless of the way you want to do it, there is a way to ensure that you can keep any playlist that you have painstakingly collected over the years.
However, there is a caveat: the three services we received to offer this service are not free At least, not if you have enough songs.

How to downgrade iOS and keep your data
By

This simple guide can save you from any data loss.
Transfer Spotify to Apple Music on Android
The easiest way to use when transferring your playlists from Spotify to Apple Music on your Android phone is to use an app called Free Your Music. (It is also available on iOS).
Notably, your music is free to use, but you can only transfer up to 100 songs without paying. If you want to transfer more than that, you need to make a premium in-app purchase.
It’s available as a one-time purchase for 10.99, or you can subscribe to a quarterly, yearly or lifetime subscription. Which one you choose depends on whether you want to use it more than once. If you only make one big mega transfer then all you need is a one time option.
- Download your music for free – In the Play Store (or App Store for iPhone)
- Open the app and select your source – in this case ‘Spotify’
- Sign in to your Spotify account
- Select your destination – select ‘Apple Music’
- Now sign in with your Apple ID
- Select playlists or saved albums you want to transfer – tap ‘Start transfer’
But this is not the only solution. You can also use our ‘On the Web’ tutorial below. It costs less, but obviously it is not so convenient because you have to use a browser to do it.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac
An app that was originally free – but no longer available – is called SongShift. We’ve shown you how to use it to switch from Apple Music to Spotify on the iPhone, and the process is pretty much the same, though. There are several levels of subscription for SongShift. You can pay 34.99 for lifetime use, 4.99 per month or £ 19.49 per year.
- Download SongShift for iPhone – From the App Store
- Tap ‘+’ to start the transfer process
- Select ‘Setup Source’ – now select Spotify and album, playlist or song from the popup menu
- Now select the playlists you want to transfer and press ‘Done’
- Where it says ‘Create new playlist’ on the next screen, tap the green edit button to look like a pencil
- Select ‘New Playlist’ and select Apple Music (or ‘+ Others’ and then Apple Music if not)
- Tap ‘Continue’
- Select ‘I’m finished’
All you have to do now is wait for the processing to finish and confirm the matches, then wait for the transfer to finish.
On the internet
As mentioned, there is a useful web-based migration tool. It’s called Sounds and it’s fairly easy to use. Again, this is not free. You can transfer a playlist without paying, but more and you have to subscribe to the premium service for £ 4.50 per month. If you only need it once, just sign up and unsubscribe immediately when it’s finished.
- Head Soundiiz.com – Sign in / create an account
- Click on Spotify and select ‘Connect’
- Click on Apple Music and select ‘Connect’
- Find ‘Transfer’ and click / tap on it
- Now choose what you want to transfer in the pop-up window
- Select Spotify as the source, then select the playlists you want to transfer – click Continue.
- In ‘Configure your playlist’, edit your title and description then click ‘Save Configuration’
- Choose which tracks need to be moved to that playlist on the next screen – click ‘Confirm’
- Choose Apple Music as your destination
Now wait for the transfer to take place. The time depends on how many tracks you are trying to transfer to the new service
What about other music services?
The great thing about these transfer services is that they support almost all major music subscription services. These include Tidal, Desir, YouTube Music and more. So if you want to transfer between other services, you can use the same methods listed above, just choose different sources and destinations.
