In recent years, not everything has been business as usual and normal at Samsung. In 2025, Samsung will again take some important steps differently than in 2023 or 2024. The glaring difference is under the hood, the processor will be different.
For us Europeans, this means another change to the chipset of the Galaxy S model. For the first time, Samsung relied entirely on the then-latest Snapdragon platform for the Galaxy S23 series, but reverted to an Exynos one for the S24 and S24+.
In 2025, Samsung will once again go all-in with Qualcomm, according to information confirmed by countless sources. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite is also used in the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. We expect to see this chip in the Galaxy S25 Slim, which will be released at the end of next year.
Samsung SLI also had major issues with the new Exynos 2500 build, but now seems to have fixed them. Not yet for the new Galaxy S model, but probably for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next summer.
From supposedly reliable sources From South Korea Today it is being said that we can expect foldables with Exynos chipsets in 2025. For the first time in recent years, Samsung’s folding phones have used Qualcomm chips.
The Flip and Fold 2025 will likely have different SoCs
Interesting: Samsung will likely only install Exynos on Flip models, with a Galaxy Z Flip FE expected for the first time, but probably not on the Fold 7. So Samsung will also take a two-pronged approach in 2025, unlike in recent years
For many it certainly plays a small role. But it doesn’t reflect well on Samsung when devices use different processor strategies every year. This has been going on for a while now, which is not a good thing.
