The Government of India has recently confirmed that some 5G frequencies will be reserved to enable enterprises to set up private mobile networks.
Indian enterprises see 5G as a key enabler of their digital transformation, according to a recent study conducted by Omdia for Ericsson in India.
According to an Omdia survey, 32% of respondents ranked 5G as the most important technology for their digital strategy over the next two years. They have put 5G ahead of other technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud services and robotic process automation. According to the survey, 56 percent ranked 5G in their top three technologies.
“It is noteworthy that many enterprises point to the limitations of current wireless and other network technologies as a key obstacle to improving efficiency through automation and digital transformation,” Erickson said.
Omdia 5G surveyed more than 300 initiatives in India earlier this year across five industries উৎপাদন manufacturing, energy and utilities, transportation and logistics, sports and recreation, and healthcare বোঝ to understand their plans for implementing enterprise concepts and technologies.
Omdia studies have shown that most enterprises 5G have a large or medium impact on all major business processes and goals. “Indian enterprises hope that 5G will enable new technologies and new ways of working and even change the established business model of their organization. Many enterprises believe that 5G will improve productivity, increase revenue, improve sales and marketing processes, enable automation and improve security and customer service. ”
More than 90% of enterprises surveyed said they are very likely to deploy multiple 5G uses in the next two to three years. These include remote assistance, human assistance or training, video recognition and analysis, automation including robotic process automation, remote control of machines, robots, vehicles or drones, and improved streaming, Ericsson said.
The Omdia survey suggests that most companies in India plan to start using some types of 5G services by the end of 2023.
The Indian government recently announced plans to hold an auction of 5G spectrum by the end of July and confirmed that certain frequencies would be reserved to enable enterprises to set up private mobile networks.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has announced that it has approved a proposal by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to auction a total of 72 GHz spectrum with a validity period of 20 years.
The auction will offer frequencies in the 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 3.3 GHz and 26 GHz frequency bands.
The Government of India has decided to allow enterprises to set up and operate private networks. These companies will be able to acquire spectrum directly from DoT to set up networks to test and create Industry 4.0 applications. The cabinet noted that it has decided to enable private networks to support a new wave of industrial applications in sectors such as automotive, healthcare, agriculture and energy.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) recently told the Indian government that local carriers would not be encouraged to set up 5G networks if the authorities allow private companies to operate their own 5G networks.
