It was once the most visited social network in the world. Was replaced by TikTok and no more. But there are still millions of users who take advantage of Instagram’s services, which are very popular among young people.
One of Insta’s qualities has always been its… immediacy. For many but not for all. One lamented that the stories could not be archived on the US social network service, one of the Meta family, which allows users to take pictures, apply filters and share them over the Internet.
Over the years, Instagram has changed: now it’s possible to archive your stories on Instagram without sharing them with your followers. And even without downloading other additional applications.
Paths to enable or disable these functions
The ability to archive posts on Insta is a useful tool, as it hides posts from your feed, but doesn’t delete them. When a post is archived, both “likes” and comments are kept for review.
Once an Insta story is published, you need to follow a specific path to archive it. That starts from your profile and taps the icon in the top right, which depicts a dart with clock hands. This is the ultimate synthesis of an archive.
When it opens, there is a drop-down menu from which to select stories, Then tap on the content of the story: you can “share”, you can “other”, or highlight. To save dated content on Insta you need to choose the latter, so that i Reel Saved will appear in the section of your Instagram profile, at the top.
To unarchive an Instagram post, however, you must always open the application, go to your profile and tap on your profile icon at the bottom right. Tap again, this time on the three lines icon at the top right of the screen, so you need to click on Archive.
You need to tap to open the post you want to unarchive. We’re almost there, another tap on the three dots icon at the top right of the post, then “Show on profile”.
Maybe you’ve had an Instagram account for over a decade and want to declutter your endless feed of ultra-filtered low-res snapshots, or you’ve switched to using your account for business and want to hide more personal posts. Now you know how to archive posts and how to stop saving.
