Up and out?
It will be a while before the official launch, but there are already some details about the Intel Raptor Lake. Fresh information on memory support for the Z790 motherboard. For DDR5 it goes up to 6,800 MT/s, with DDR4 boards up to 5,333 MT/s is possible.
This much is clear: it’s going to be a pretty exciting autumn. You can expect two new processor generations and new next-generation graphics cards. While AMD will already introduce new Ryzen 7000 CPUs with the X670 platform this week, Intel is taking a few more days with Raptor Lake and the 13th core generation. In the room on 27th September for presentation and 17th October for market launch
The LGA1700 socket remains the same, but there will be new boards with the Z790 chipset. In between, support for main memory seems to have been slightly increased. According to the document that Videocards As leaked, the boards are supposed to support JEDEC DDR5-5600 by default, which should be a nice step up from the DDR5-4800 on Alder Lake.
MSI’s MEG Z790 series is said to be capable of up to 6,800 MT/s with 1 DIMM per channel (1DPC) and 1-rank configuration. With a 2-rank configuration, up to 6,400 MT/s is possible. For comparison: current Z690 boards in the MEG series (such as Godlike, Ace or Unify) work up to 6,666 MT/s. Probably up to 5,333 MT/s is planned for DDR4 boards with 1DPC and 1R configuration with Z790 chipset.
Like Alder Lake, Intel again relies on a hybrid architecture for Raptor Lake with efficient E-cores and high-performance P-cores. The new flagship, the Core i9-13900K, is being talked about 24 cores with 32 threads have and with Clocked above 5.5 GHz. You can read more leaks and rumours In our review article to read
