iOS 18 was officially announced at WWDC last week, but we’re still learning more about all the new features and changes. inside The release notes have been published On its developer page, Apple provides some additional information about improvements to FaceTime, changes to the Wallet app, and more.
Apple says iOS 18’s Wallet app has a smart new feature that helps prevent fraud when you add IDs to your iPhone:
To prevent fraud, when you add an ID to your iPhone, you may be asked to take a live photo instead of a series of head and face movements. Live Photos are evaluated by your device and Apple to ensure that the photo you send is of a living person and the same living person sending their photo.
There’s also an improvement to Siri’s performance in cars, especially in cars without CarPlay:
In iOS 18, if your iPhone is connected via Bluetooth to a car that doesn’t have CarPlay, Siri’s voice quality can be significantly improved with the new Reply option via media source. Users can enable this feature in Settings Siri and Search → Siri Answers → Connected to Bluetooth in the car
Finally, Apple says it has improved the way FaceTime works in low data mode:
FaceTime in Low Data Mode now uses more data when network conditions are good to improve video call quality.
