Jet Force Gemini debuted on the new Japanese Switch Online 18+ app earlier this week, and the widescreen mode appears to be “broken.”
Nintendo World Report He explained how the original N64 version supported the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, but enabling it in this latest digital version of the game “doesn’t change the exact size of the image.”
“The 4:3 border disappears, but the image takes the shape of a square character without properly stretching vertically to fill the screen. When playing in docked mode, you can manually adjust the image settings to resize the image, but when playing with a mobile device, there is no way to manually resize and display the image correctly.
NWR director John Rairdin also shared screenshots and explained how the game should look in 16:9 format (via social media):
The same source notes that GoldenEye 007 also has this “same feature” in its Switch Online version, and “has gotten it right.” Jet Force Gemini fans playing on Switch are advised to stay in 4:3 mode for now. If there are any developments, we will inform you about them.
Jet Force Gemini is expected to launch locally on Switch Online + Expansion Pack this month.
