Kendrick Lamar and director Dave Free have released several projects through their company pgLang, usually commercial collaborations with companies such as Calvin Klein and Cash App. Now the company has announced that it will work with a tech company to release a limited-edition phone designed “for people.”
painting According to reports, the phone called Lite Phone II will be launched on Thursday (November 2). Simple Phone, made in collaboration with Simple companyThere is no web browser or a colorful user interface and it is intended to be a “simple” answer to the standard mobile phone.
“We build all the tools from the ground up to ensure that no third-party apps can track you,” the outlet says about the phone on the company’s official website. “In a time of ‘surveillance capitalism’ and the ‘attention economy,’ Lite Phone represents a different choice. You’re the customer, not the product. It’s a phone for people.”

pgLang – short for “programming language”, according to Free – launched its official website in 2020. The company was described as a company “at the service” of creative people working in various media. The company’s mission statement explains more about this.
“Lamar and Fry’s new goals at pgLang represent something very personal to them,” it reads in part. “pgLang serves creators and projects that are passionately committed to the shared experiences that connect us all…In these overstimulated times, we’re focused on building the raw expression of grassroots partnerships.”
The company’s first official signee was Kendrick Lamar’s cousin Baby Kim, and in March 2022 they signed their second act: a Californian rapper named Tana Leone. Leon released his debut album sleeping soldier 28th April this year.
In an interview with Dr complex, Leon explains why he chose to partner with pgLang.
“It’s out of reality that artists are involved,” he said. “It’s really like a family. It’s its own ecosystem that really fosters creativity. It supports and honors the spirit of everyone on the team because everyone is there for a reason. That’s what makes it special.”
He continued: “It was perfect for me because I’m creative and knowledgeable in other areas outside of music.” It took me a while to realize that I wanted to do music and that’s how I started this journey to master other things. This is why being a part of a company like pgLang is so attractive to a versatile and versatile creative artist.
