Konami has released new details regarding the resolution and frame rate in Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1.
In a statement released to IGN, Konami said that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 is “targeting” 1080p/60fps on all platforms except Nintendo Switch. That means the group is aiming for 1080p/60fps on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Specifically on the Switch, the device runs at 720p/30fps in handheld mode and aims for 1080p/30fps in docked mode. Neither platform plays the set in 4K.
This clarification follows the confusion caused by a hands-on preview session of the collection on Nintendo Switch. Konami’s stated commitment to authenticity appears to include releasing the collection in 720p on all platforms, but Konami is now denying this. Although the collection contains plenty of bonus content, it is a fairly direct port of the original 2012 Metal Gear Solid HD collection.
IGN’s Metal Gear Solid Master Collection preview notes noticeable slowdown and framerate drops on the Switch version. Metal Gear Solid “may be considered obsolete” in the Master Collection.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 will be released on October 24th for PC, Switch, PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S.
