Laowa has launched the Indiegogo campaign page for its new Nanomorph anamorphic lens, revealing more details about the compact anamorphic lens.
Shortly after the start of the campaign, the first three nanomorph lenses are now available back in Indigogo: a 27mm T2.8, a 35mm T2.4 and a 50mm T2.4. Venus Optics says 65mm and 80mm focal lengths will follow later this year. The lenses are designed for S35 and MFT sensors with mounting options for Canon EF, PL mount, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount and Fuji X.
All three offer a constant 1.5x squeeze factor across the full focus distance range, typically seen only on high-end anamorphic lenses. This constant squeeze ratio means that the lenses will not lose their anamorphic effect when they are close to a subject – something that can distort the face and objects in the scene.
The company added that the lenses have the shortest focal length of any anamorphic lens on the market, a 27mm T2.8 lens capable of focusing 43cm (16.9 ”) and a 50mm T2.4 sensor capable of receiving only 70cm. (27.5 ”) from the subject. The launch data reveals exactly how small the lenses are, the mirrorless mount versions are about 10 cm (4 ”) long and weigh between 313g (0.69lbs) and 390g (0.86lbs). Models designed for EF and PL mounts are shorter in length but heavier. A 55mm filter thread is used for the mirrorless version, while the EF and PL models carry a 77mm filter.

Laova says the mounts for these lenses are user-interchangeable, and each lens will come with your chosen mount, but $ 50 users can buy another mount that can be replaced at home. A back-focus adjustment mechanism is placed on the back of the lens so that users can recalibrate the Infinity Focus with each change to ensure that the focusing scale is correct.
Mirrorless versions will retail for $ 999 and EF / PL versions will cost $ 1,499, although ‘Early Bird’ discounts are available for fans. The company’s Indiegogo campaign. Shipping is expected to begin in August.
