Updated at 6 p.m: Netease has apologized for “inappropriate and misleading terms” in its developer agreement
In a statement posted on Discord shortly after the deal became headlines, the Marvel rival content creation team said it was “deeply sorry” for your “misunderstanding and unpleasant experience.”
“We recognize that sharing non-parody content has unreasonable and confusing consent requirements,” the full statement said. “We sincerely apologize [sic] For misunderstandings and your unpleasant experience!
“Our position is completely open to both suggestions and criticism to improve our game. [sic] Our goal is to make Marvel Rivals more satisfying with these constructive suggestions.
“We are now working to review the misunderstood terms of our engagement,” he continued. “Progress will be shared with each manufacturer in due course. Marvel Rivals welcomes all creators to join our community and create great content with us. Speaking of which, the Content Creator Program proposal form is about to be released [Discord] All these are open to opinion. We look forward to your feedback!
At the time of writing, it is unclear whether previously signed agreements are now null and void, but NetEase says: “All terms will not be effective until both parties have negotiated and agreed to the terms.”
In a statement to the press, NetEase said: “The agreement is a draft version intended for long-term cooperation with manufacturers interested in Marvel rivals. The development team hopes to receive more meaningful and consistent comments, suggestions and criticism through more detailed information

Main story, 1.50pm GMT: Players and content creators have responded to Marvel rivals, claiming Playtest’s terms of service agreement prohibits players from making “statements that damage the game’s reputation”.
As former professional esports player and Twitch streamer Brandon “A_Seagull” Learned shared, the contract “prohibits your right to negatively review the game.”
In Section 2.1 of the agreement — titled “Non-Discrimination” — the developers agreed “not to make public statements or engage in discussions that damage the game’s reputation.”
This includes, but is not limited to, “making derogatory or satirical comments about game-related material such as game features, characters, or music” and “making harmful comparisons to competitors or disparaging gameplay or distinguishing Marvel competitors.” Provides subjective negative reviews of the game.”

Learned noted: “Many streamers have signed up [the contract] No reading, just playing.”
Interestingly, an FAQ posted on the game’s Discord community states that “there is no non-disclosure agreement for our closed alpha testing” and that players are “encouraged to share their experiences and content of all kinds on all platforms.”
A few players They also expressed concern about the terms of service on the official Discord server, but so far their request has not been answered.

Others on Twitter/X claim that the developers have agreed to a “review” of the contract, but it appears they haven’t done so yet.
At the time of writing, the Hero team-based PvP shooter published by NetEase Games has not made any public comment on the matter. We’ve reached out to NetEase and will update if we learn more.
