(Pocket-Lint) – Many companies are focusing on Metaverse and what that means for the future of the Internet. Microsoft, naturally, is very interested in this.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadela has revealed that the company’s plan to acquire Activation Blizzard was partly inspired by Metaverse. This and the motivation to create the “next Internet”.
When announcing the acquisition, the company detailed the reasoning behind it:
“The acquisition will accelerate the growth of Microsoft’s gaming business across mobile, PCs, consoles and the cloud, and provide building blocks for Metavers.”
Satya Nadela, Chairman and CEO, further elaborated, “Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting segment of entertainment across all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of the Metaverse platform …”
This time in an interview The Financial TimesNadela talks more about the company’s vision for the future:
“Metaverse is all about creating games … it’s about being able to hold people, places, things [in] A physics engine and then all the people, space, things in the physics engine are related to each other. You and I will soon be sitting at a conference room table with a 2D surface with our avatar or our hologram or even the surrounding audio. Guess what? The place where we have been doing it forever. . . It’s gaming. “
“And so, the way we’re going to approach the system that we’re going to create for Metavers is, basically, democratizing the game building … and it wants to create a space for anyone who wants to create and basically, people, Place, [and] Things are digitized and interrelated with the presence of their bodies. “
“To me, being great at game building allows us to build this next platform, which is basically the next Internet …”
Looks like future plans are interesting. And that is to put “you” in the game and in metavers.
