Niantic, Inc. And Capcom Co. Ltd. Release the mobile game Monster Hunter Now today, which integrates Capcom’s globally popular Monster Hunter series into the real world.
Over three million people have pre-registered for Monster Hunter Now. The game is now available on the App Store and Google Play in nine languages: Japanese, English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Monster Hunter Now is designed to bring fun to parks around the world. New features announced today include:
With the AR camera mode, majestic monsters appear directly in the real environment. Players can interact with them and easily share reactions to monsters on social media.
If a monster is too heavy, hunters can easily team up with others using the Group Hunt feature. It will automatically search for nearby hunters who are willing to form a group.
Two new functions make this even easier:
- Friends: Find friends using a QR or friend code or recruit new players using an invite code Not only can you play together, you can also earn prizes like recovery pills and color balls. Four hunters can go hunting at once.
- Teams: In hunting teams, a specific group of hunters can organize themselves to play together, even if they are further apart. Each member of the group can hunt the monsters they find together with other players.
Like other Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter Now makes hunting easier by allowing hunters to save equipment and weapons for quick changes during gameplay. With the loadout feature, which many fans requested during the soft launch, players can quickly swap out armor, weapons, and other equipment before facing each monster.
“The day has finally come when Monster Hunter Now is available to everyone around the world. Monster Hunter Now is a unique Monster Hunter experience that offers simple yet rich hunting with simple taps and swipes on your smartphone, as well as real-time multiplayer action with friends. “You Monster Whether you’re new to the world of Hunter or a longtime fan, we believe it will be an exciting new experience,” said Ryozo Tsujimoto, Producer of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series.
“Monster Hunter Now is the perfect combination of the definitive philosophy of real-world exploration and the pure fun of hunting and fighting monsters together,” said Kei Kawai, Niantic’s Chief Product Officer. “Designed with the mobile experience in mind, the game is easy to learn but hard to master. We hope it will honor this historic series and delight fans for years to come.”
Niantic worked closely with Capcom to create a game that stays true to the popular world of Monster Hunter and makes it accessible to more players on mobile. To mark the launch, the companies collaborated with popular rock band One OK Rock on a music video titled “Make it out alive“, where a hunter runs through the streets of Tokyo and meets the Diablos at Shibuya Crossing.
Most important features at a glance:
In Monster Hunter Now, players take on the role of hunters and embark on an adventure to hunt powerful monsters that exist in the real world. The game is played on smartphones and hunters can easily team up with others. Monsters are often found in large parks that are designed specifically to be suitable for playing together.
Monster Hunting in the Real World: As players enter our world, Monster Hunter embarks on a global quest to track and hunt down some of the most terrifying monsters in the universe. To do this, they build powerful weapons and team up with other hunters to seek out and fight larger-than-life monsters.
Authentic hunting action, carefully adapted to mobile phones: depending on the habitat – forest, desert or swamp – there are different types of monsters to discover that can be hunted alone or in a group. Simplified touch controls and faithful graphics make it easy to immerse yourself in fun hunting action anywhere.
Recognize monsters in the environment with the AR camera: The AR camera makes Monster Hunter’s popular monsters appear in the real world.
75 seconds to Master the Hunt: Hunters must upgrade their weapons, craft armor sets and their skills, select the appropriate items, and take advantage of every advantage that comes their way to master the hunt.
Monsters can also be spotted with the cell phone in their pocket: with Adventure Sync, hunters can use a paint ball to track monsters as they explore their town. While running, your own Palico can mark passing monsters with Palico paintballs, even when there is no active play. This makes it possible to come back later and hunt down these monsters.
