E-reader manufacturer Bigme is planning to launch Up to four smartphones with e-ink displays this year, including two models with color displays. The devices announced as “HyBrake” will be equipped with a 5.84-inch screen, but will be available in different configurations.
The basic models are powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 with an octa-core processor, while the premium variants rely on the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900. Depending on the model, a modest 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage are available. Android 11 or Android 14 is used as the operating system. The Hibrake smartphone is said to be priced between US$220 and US$450, with the cheapest variant with a black and white display and Helio P35 chip available for around US$220.
