Motorola is rolling out Android 15 to its own Moto smartphones and is also introducing a few new features for enhanced security. Its foundation is the Moto Secure app, which is exclusively available on Motorola models
The app is based on ThinkShield, Motorola’s comprehensive security solution that spans hardware, software and the supply chain. With Moto Secure, users can quickly and easily check their device’s security status and adjust settings.
Another highlight is AI-based malware and phishing detection. It protects users from malicious apps and fraudulent websites.
There are new theft functions for Motorola’s Android operating system, including the following:
- Theft detection lock: Using artificial intelligence, devices can detect unusual movements, such as a robbery, and automatically lock themselves.
- Lock on failed authentication: After multiple failed login attempts, the user’s device will automatically lock and require PIN or biometric authentication to prevent unauthorized access.
- Factory Reset Protection: Even if someone tries to reset the user’s device, they will need the user’s PIN or biometric information to continue, which provides an extra layer of protection.
- Protect sensitive settings: Authentication is required to ensure that user settings have not been changed to disable critical settings such as USB access, screen timeout, and Find My Device.
- Offline Device Lock: If a user’s device is disconnected from the Find My Device network for an extended period of time, it will be automatically locked, making it unusable by potential thieves.
- Remote lock: Phone misplaced? Users can go to Android.com/lock, enter their phone number and lock instantly – no sign-up required.
