Robot Vacuum is one of the most popular type of smart home products. After all, what is not love? You get a smooth, intelligent device that does all your vacuuming for you without requiring any input from you. The Neato D10 holds that ideal in a big way.
The Neato D10 is the company’s flagship model – the older brother of the Neato D9 and Neato D8. Maybe it’s better to say that the D10 combines the best aspects of the D9 and D8 that become the ultimate robot vacuum.
So does it deliver on its promise of an amazing cleanup? Absolutely.
A good cleaner
Let’s face it – the Neato D10 looks great. This may sound like a weird thing to say about a robot vacuum, but it’s true – the distinctive D-shape is different from the dozens of flying-saucer-shaped robot vacuums on the market, but it’s more than just an aesthetic choice.
The shape allows the Neato D10 to clean against walls, bookshelves and more.
The shape allows the Neato D10 to clean against walls, bookshelves and more. The cleaning brush goes straight to the edge of the robot vacuum; It is not only focused in the middle of the device. This allows it to clean more effectively against the edges rather than relying on a spinning brush. The end result is a deeper, more thorough cleaning.
Functional design is a huge selling point, but I’ll be honest: I like the look of the device. It’s smooth and good looking, which is more than I can say about many robot vacuums. At best, many have a functional look. I hope the Neato D10 will look like a robot vacuum in 2022.
Unfortunately, it does not have an auto-empty base. The Neato D10 pulls its charging points against the base, but you’ll need to clear it yourself. In my experiments, the D10 can clean for just over an hour before it needs to be emptied. However this will vary depending on how clean or dirty your floor is.
Versatile cleaning mode
The new My Neato app simplifies and streamlines the activities of the Neato D10. It displays your cleaning history (showing which day and time you cleaned, as well as which mode), allows you to set up routine, displays any recorded maps, and gives your robot easy access to the vacuum.
There are also a couple of interesting features. The Locate feature pings your Neato D10 and emits a sound to it, if you lose track of where it is. After all, no one wants to play hide and seek with their smart home device. Another feature is multiple modes.
The Neato D10 has three modes: Echo, Turbo and Max. Echo mode gives you maximum battery life (an impressive 300 minutes), but it is the weakest of the three modes. It is ideal for daily cleaning, and can handle up to 2,700 square feet on a single charge. Turbo mode gives you the power to clean up more at the expense of battery life.
Maximum mode throws warnings in the air. It is significantly higher than the other two modes, and Nieto claims that it “deeply cleans dirt and debris that you can see and not see.” After testing it, I can’t argue with the results.
I ran Max mode and I was worried if my carpet would stay attached.
I’ve already cleaned the floor twice – once with Echo mode and once with Turbo mode – and things seemed pretty clean. Even the carpet felt soft. Then I ran Max mode, and I was worried if my carpet would stay attached. It really introduces a lot of suction power and it fills the dust bin with more debris. Of course, Max Mode has the shortest battery life, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing with the cleanliness it provides.
Whether the Neato D10 runs out of power or not, it will finish cleaning. How? Easy: It simply goes back to its base and recharges until it is ready to continue cleaning. The Quick Boost feature allows it to get enough charge to finish the job before returning for a longer, more complete recharge.
The Neato D10 will talk to you during the operation. If it gets stuck, it will alert you and ask for help. Sometimes it can say that it has to orient itself based on its surroundings. If you want to change its voice, there are many language options – a fact I appreciate, since it means that non-English speakers can easily use this device.
Zone and no-go zone
One of the great features of the Neato D10 is its ability to create zones. After creating a map of your home, you can define specific areas and name them. After that, you can ask them to clean only those areas – perfect for quick cleaning around the dining room table.
You can set up a no-go zone that can avoid a robot vacuum. If you notice that it is hanging in a certain place, such as a hump on the floor, or it is entangled in a rope, simply designate that place as a no-go zone and the vacuum will avoid it.
Our acceptance
The Neato D10 doesn’t really revolutionize anything or have features different from other robot vacuums on the market, but it does everything you expect Really We will. It’s like the classic sports advice: focus on the basics. The Neato D10 does this remarkably well, with its versatile cleaning mode, an incredible battery life and, above all, its iconic shape. Although it lacks some bells and whistles, you will get a satisfying thorough cleaning.
Is there a better option?
At $ 800, the Neato D10 is not cheap. Its shape is unique among robot vacuums, but you can spend $ 600 and get the iRobot Roomba i3 Plus which comes with a self-emptying base at the cost of virtual zoning.
How long will it last?
The Neato D10 is solidly built. Every aspect of the machine feels a quality in it, so I doubt it will last for years to come. If something goes wrong, Neato Robotics offers a one-year limited warranty.
Will you buy it?
Yes. The shape of the Neato D10 means it cleans more thoroughly than other models and its range of features makes it suitable for almost any home.
