Google is rolling out a new feature for the display, but we’ll notice it in the battery.
When you look at the latest Android 15 beta 3, you can discover a new function. Although it benefits the battery, it is located in the screen settings. What’s new is “Smart Timeout” for the screen, which is launching with Android 15.
This is a feature that automatically turns off the screen when the device is not in use. Usually you have a normal time frame for this. But the good thing about the function is that it can respond sooner than this time frame.
If you set your screen timeout to 2 minutes, the display will stay active for that long, even if you only use your smartphone for 15 seconds. Smart Time Limit comes in here and turns off the screen early.
The new option with Android 15 beta 3 has landed on my Pixel 8 Pro, but it still doesn’t seem to work. In any case, after several tries nothing happened and the screen remained active. This will definitely be different with the finished Android 15.
During the whole day, the function will have a positive effect on your battery.
