It’s been a long time since Square Enix’s Dragon Quest III HD 2D remake, and now the latest update has some fans hoping that the first two games will return as well.
Adding fuel to the fire is a new comment from reliable Likker Midori, who believes that this new version for the Switch and many other platforms… complete triple (So these are Dragon Quest I, II and III)
The latest video suggests that The Legend of Erdrick is coming and features a single “HD-2D” logo, but no specific mention of a third game.
Erdric is the title given to the protagonist in the third installment, and the original three versions are known as the “Erdric Trilogy”.
The same leaker claims that fans will likely learn more about it in an upcoming “Nintendo Direct” stating that the title will ship by the end of the current fiscal year.
The Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake was originally announced in May 2021 and was apparently in development long before then – so a triple release would probably explain why the project took so long to see the light of day.
As the project was revealed, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii noted that remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and II were already being considered but not yet “official”.
Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed about the trio at this point, so don’t get too excited.
