Friday Puzzle – What do you get when you cross the man whose phrase “Why, you little…” first appeared in the New York Times crossword puzzle, when colorful phrases were less common and a woman was known for her delicate sense of vitality. Was there? The entrance?
You’ll find a unique Friday puzzle from Brooke Husic and Brendan Emmett Quigley, filled with all sorts of interesting entries, some of which you’ll know, some of which you won’t – but you’ll find you enjoy learning.
This is Ms. Hosick and Mr. Quigley’s first collaboration at The Times, which is no easy task, but you’d expect it, right? After all, it’s a Friday secret. It is very cleverly entertaining and informative.
Just keep going – that’s my advice. Take a break, but don’t forget to get back to the puzzle. I had to struggle with this crossword puzzle for two days to get past it. This is unusual for me. I think that’s because Ms. Hosick’s and Mr. Quigley’s networks are more frequent in other places, and those places have a different voice than the Times.
