DXO Nik has announced the latest release of the collection of plug-ins The Nick Collection 5 There are eight plug-ins including Adobe Lightroom Classic, Adobe Photoshop and DxO PhotoLab that can be used as standalone applications or with host applications. The new release includes major updates to the two plug-ins, Color Effects and Analog Effects. Updated plug-ins include newly designed user interfaces and advanced U-Point technology.
For fans of the Nick Collection, the restructuring of color effects and analog effects will look familiar, as Vivaza and Silver Effects made similar changes last June as part of the Nick Collection 4. The redesigned user interface offers a much more modern and improved usability to look at. Part of the enhanced UI is the ability to easily rename and save control points, making them easier to manage. You can save control points as part of a preset, which you can apply to additional images.
The control points use U-Point technology, which allows you to perform high-local, customizable edits without having to manually create masks – U-Point masks for you. Last year, DxO Viveza and Silver Efex added luminance and chrominance color selectivity sliders, which are now included in color effects and analog effects. These sliders allow the user more control over how the control points interact with the color and brightness of the pixels in a selected region, which allows much more – or less – precision.
Color Effects has over 50 creative filters and 20 image recipes. Each filter has six modes that you can use to change the visual effects. And, of course, you can adjust the power of different filters, stack them, and use control points for huge amounts of flexibility. In the Nick Collection 5, Color Effects includes ClearView technology, first introduced in DxO Photolab, DxO’s all-in-one photo editing software. Using the ClearView slider, you can easily cut fog, mist and fog, giving your images more detail and contrast. Color Effects also has 29 brand new authentic film grains, which DxO has created using real-world film stock in its lab.
Like color effects, analog effects include new UI and advanced U-Point technology. The available effects are inspired by more than 160 years of historical photography and allow you to re-imagine your digital photos using a look inspired by classic cameras, lenses and the film process. You can add a variety of effects to your photos, such as burn edges, scratches, light leaks or granules.
With the Nik Collection 5, half of the plug-in suite has been completely modernized, including popular plug-ins such as Viveza, Silver Effects and now Color Effects and Analog Effects. The other four plug-ins are Perspective Efex, HDR Efex, Dfine and Sharpener. Perspective Efex now supports more than 20 Fujifilm cameras and 40 lenses, although it retains the old look and feel.
The Nik Collection 5 is now available and priced at $ 149 for new users. Owners of the Nik Collection 3 or 4 can upgrade for as low as 79. For the first time, the Nik Collection 5 includes DxO PhotoLab 5 (required version). For more information, See DxO.
