The internal testing phase of the new OneUI 6.1 for the Galaxy S23 and S22 seems to be underway.
The new OneUI 6.1 will be officially presented in January 2024 and will probably land on the first devices. We are expecting a very timely update after the official launch of the Galaxy S24 series. It now seems clear that they want to deliver the Galaxy S23 and S22 first, which isn’t really surprising.
Well-informed firmware insiders say Samsung likely isn’t planning a public testing phase. However, based on the server firmware, it is also clear that the testing phase in beta form is already running internally at Samsung. Although no timetable can be deduced from this, January 2024 still seems realistic for the first update.
OneUI 6.1 is basically based on OneUI 6.0 and hence based on Android 14. Many new functions will still be new. It’s not yet known what AI innovations will bring to older models; Samsung is yet to comment on the matter.
