Xiaomi has included a very cheap case in the package for its new 500 Euro smartphone.
It has to be fast and cheap, which is what the brand new Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ comes with. This in no way does justice to the phone, which actually looks very high quality and has a really good feel. The package cover is cheap junk and reveals a continuing problem.
This cover brings me to a brief rant at this point. Because I would much prefer that the manufacturer simply abandons such cases entirely and thus saves resources. Because in this case, the feel of the case is not only boringly cheap, it’s also cheaply produced.
Generally, a case should protect the camera area. But instead they chose the cheapest type of production and chose a huge portion. As if they wanted to save every last euro by adapting production equipment for this device. Not only does this cutout provide poor protection for the camera, it also expands significantly.
It makes no sense how this cover was designed. In the predecessor, the case was closed at least around the camera, which is not the case here. Unlike its predecessor, the black model comes with a black case. So Xiaomi didn’t screw up 100 percent, but only 95 percent.
I don’t know what they were thinking. As mentioned in the introduction, this is the flagship of the new smartphone series and with an RRP of €499, it’s not a cheap device either. This faux pas is at least made up for by the fact that a 120 watt power adapter is included so that fast charging can be used directly at full power.
Still, the point remains in the end: dear manufacturers, if you don’t want to adapt to the design of the device, leave us the cheapest rubber cases for your smartphone. Better to think a little more ecologically and about our environment.
