OSEE as a brand is fairly new to me but that isn’t a surprise as so many monitor companies are popping up and they are also very inexpensive with impressive brightness and color accuracy. Monitor panels are generally bought in bulk and the companies add the engine to drive them. This is where the user experience kicks in. Menus and tools are important features of a production model.
OSEE Megamon 15 is a stated 10-bit monitor, however, I don’t know if it’s a true 10-bit or 8 + FRC. In most cases at smaller sizes, the user cannot tell the difference between the two but the 8 + FRC is much less expensive while visually simulating a 10-bit image.

The 15 ″ size of the OSEE Megamon 15 is a nice balance between a camera and a director’s monitor. Obviously you wouldn’t mount this 15.4 ″ monitor on a camera, but it would be great as a camera operator to have on set very close by. I like 7 ″ monitors a lot. They are much better than a small 5 ″ that is just a little bigger than what you already have on a cinema camera or hybrid. Stepping up to a bigger size like a 15.4 ″ interest me a lot.
The OSEE Megamon has a stated 800nits and is HDR. It’s an HD monitor and the specifications don’t state if it can take a UHD or 4K image and display it in HD. I would think it could as this is very common with most monitors these days.
The OSEE Megamon 15 comes with a case that is also a hood for outdoor use. I like the idea of this convertible design. You can mount the monitor on a stand with the case attached. Also included are removable feet for desktop use.

The OSEE Megamon 15 looks like an interesting monitor that ticks a lot of boxes for users looking for a compact field monitor that potentially could be used for post-production use if the color is accurate and can be calibrated.
800nits should work fine with the included hood for outdoor use however I feel you need more than 1000nits for true outdoors us in the sun.
The OSEE Megamon 15 retails for $ 1,199.00 and is available for preorder.
