Are you missing the 6v6 experience or even the whole Overwatch One experience? There’s now a way to revisit Overwatch 1 thanks to a special Workshop game mode.
Players clamoring for a remake of Overwatch 2 with 6v6 and older features has long been a hot topic in the community.
While this idea hasn’t officially returned to the game and has been rejected in the past, thanks to this there’s actually a way to enjoy the original Overwatch experience. Game modes are created by the player.
According to the description, the “Overwatch 1 Emulator” gives players a 6v6 Overwatch One experience using the workshop script in Overwatch 2.
However, the 6v6 mode is not the only highlight of this game mode, as players can enjoy the old hero stats and mechanics mentioned in the Overwatch Wiki using the Wayback Machine.
This means you can play as the old DPS Doomfist before the tank is reworked, Orissa still has her ultimate bongo, Mercy’s super jump requires you to use the old trick instead of a button press, and more.
All new passive heroes have also disappeared. Some support heroes can’t heal themselves, DPS doesn’t reduce target healing, and there’s no tank recoil reduction – just like in Overwatch.
In short, this game mode is intended to allow players to enjoy Overwatch on the one hand The most accurate and “pure” method possible.
Those interested can join the planned lobbyist through the Discord community. The creator mentioned that players can join unranked and ranked lobbies using an “internal MMR” system, and for fun he’s hosting the April 1st 2021 patch for Overwatch this week.
If you’re looking to try Overwatch or get a nostalgia fix, you’ve come to the right place.
