There are more and more Pixel 8s out there and the feedback has been positive for me. Even if there are still obvious weaknesses, Google has been able to make noticeable improvements in many areas. This applies, for example, to the charging speed, which has not really changed on paper, but is better in practical tests.
Loading speed is high, but Android is far from the competition
compared to colleagues from Android Authority For example the charging curve and was able to notice a better behavior with the new model. Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are faster. The maximum charging speed is higher, the Pixel 8 is even close to the Pro model at around 25 watts, but the overall charging curve is also better.
However, the devices don’t set any records and the same applies to battery consumption. I switched straight from the Pixel 7 Pro to the Pixel 8 Pro and definitely noticed an improvement. But there is also no value comparable to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Not even close. The Tensor chipset is inferior to the latest Snapdragon.
Battery consumption is optimized, but not at the top level
This is confirmed again by a comparison from Techdroider. The Pixel 8 Pro only lasts slightly longer than its predecessor, which I can’t confirm. It is noticeably better in everyday life. Still, it’s worth noting that even in this comparison, all Google devices are more likely to give up the ghost due to empty batteries than models from Xiaomi, Apple and Samsung.
Less heat, slightly better runtime and less charging time. As far as the Tensor G3 is concerned, there are huge leaps, but improvements that are noticeable over its predecessors in everyday life. This gives hope for the upcoming Galaxy S24 smartphones, which will again be equipped with Exynos
