Pixel 8 (Pro) price hike upsets people

First of all, the new prices of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are not very acceptable, can the devices make up for it?

It won’t be long before Google shows us its new Pixel 8 smartphone. And this means that for the first time there will be a significant price increase again, we already know from a reliable source. But how does such strong inflation resonate with people?

Because we’re not talking about 50 euros here, the price of the Pixel 8 should increase from 649 to 799 euros. It will still have a relatively good and fair value, but this is a really huge increase. Pixel 8 Pro prices start at 1,099 euros.

That’s really a lot of money and a survey our colleagues (over 3,000 votes) It’s become clear that Google is no friend. More than 71 percent would change their mind and possibly refrain from purchasing because of the changing price. Only 6.5 percent have a clear intention to purchase.

The Pixel series is cheaper than Xiaomi, Samsung and Apple

Of course, Google will initially scare away fans of the Pixel series. It will be interesting to see how the new prices are received in the mass market. Here I still see the advantage that the Pixel 8 is significantly cheaper than a Galaxy S23/24. And the Pixel 8 Pro will cost at least 100 euros less than comparable competitors.

Google has been so cheap in recent years that even hefty price increases don’t ensure it’s keeping up with the competition. And it’s safe to assume that Pixel 8 prices will stay the same for at least another year. The good news is that that comes with a high price.

In my opinion, what its external presentation needs is a clearly noticeable upgrade over the Pixel 7 series so that price doesn’t get too much emphasis in test reports.
