Google is sticking to its A series, with the Pixel 10a (coming in 2026) already confirmed by its codename and the codename for the next Pixel 11a should has already appeared. Meanwhile, we’re about to release the Pixel 9a, which will be very different from other Pixel smartphones for the first time. Google is planning another differentiation for the next few years.
The bad news is that Google is doing this for the first time with the Pixel 10a probably not It will rely on the current Tensor G5 at the time, but will use the Tensor G4 chipset for another year. The previous generation chip will definitely save a lot of cost. Additionally, the differences between the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10a are more noticeable.
The fact that the Pixel 9a (see cover photo) looks different and could be much cheaper to produce is just the beginning. Google is keeping the red pencil in its Pixel A series. But it’s more honest and obvious than the hidden truth that the A series Tensor chipsets have always been a bit bad anyway.
