Pixel Satellite SOS is coming, the new feature will probably start with Android 15.
With the next generation of smartphones, satellite functions such as Satellite SOS seem to be finally rolled out. It can do hardware and software too. A look at the new Android 15 beta 4 reveals more. Google prepares “Pixel Satellite SOS” for launch. However, other details have also been revealed (via Android Authority)
It is not yet known whether the feature will cost money. But something like this text block appeared: “Satellite SOS included free for two years.” It’s still not entirely clear whether Android 15 will bring the new Satellite SOS to older models.
There were also the following text modules for the new function:
- When you connect to emergency services via satellite, your name, email address, phone number, location, device information (IMEI, language, model, battery level) and emergency contact information will be shared with emergency services and satellite service providers.
- To use Satellite SOS, Google Messages must be your default SMS app.
