We reported in May that Google’s upcoming wearable will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and other key features. 9to5Google It’s now being reported that the Pixel Watch 2 will move to aluminum as Fitbit prepares for “Coach” workouts.
The current Pixel Watch features “custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5” and a stainless steel case underneath that houses various health sensors.
Google uses aluminum for the Pixel Watch 2, which means the wearable will weigh slightly less. The current Pixel Watch weighs 36 grams without the strap Aluminum has experience from Fitbit’s Sense and Versa smartwatches It is worth mentioning Feeling 2 It weighs only 26 grams without the strap and is therefore hardly noticeable on the wrist.
Apple Watch Series 8 made of stainless steel (41 mm) weighs 42.3 grams, aluminum weighs 32.2 grams. It is important for fitness devices to be as light as possible. However, I have personally found that less weight makes a huge difference when using a sleep tracking watch.
On the current Pixel Watch, you can’t really see the stainless steel case because the curved glass stretches from edge to edge. It is barely visible to others. The only stainless steel you can feel is the rotating crown and side buttons. Google’s move into aluminum should be minimal. We’d argue that the current design doesn’t really justify models with different materials in the same way as the Apple Watch, since you don’t really notice the issue when you look at the Pixel Watch face-to-face.
Meanwhile, last week Google introduced a new strap for the Pixel Watch that has circular cutouts/holes for better ventilation while exercising. It comes in coral and will be available this fall. This greatly contributes to our belief that this year’s first-gen device will be very similar to the same band connector.
Fitbit-Trainer
A redesign of the Fitbit app has been expected for some time. As we’ve seen some hints from screenshots, a launch with the Pixel Watch 2 is the most likely outcome as of this writing.
We’ve learned that one aspect of the new app, and Fitbit Premium in general, is Coach-branded workouts. It will be similar to what Fitbit Premium offers today, rather than something more advanced. To be clear, the Fitbit Coach doesn’t appear to be related to the workout assistant of the same name that Google is rumored to be working on.
This new branding made a brief appearance in a promotional video for Fitbit’s Google Account migration before being removed The new app itself will encourage users to achieve goals through visual elements.
