With the release of Marvel’s Midnight Suns on October 7, gamers around the world will be able to immerse themselves in the darker and more supernatural side of the Marvel universe with Midnight Sun. The last base of the Earth’s defense, this group of legendary Marvel heroes must unite to prevent Lilith, the mother of monsters, from reviving the ancient god Chathan.
In preparation for the battle, the Firaxis team was thrilled not only to design new uniforms for the legendary heroes, but also to give them a unique supernatural midnight sun look.
When we create new outfits, we not only want to make them unique, but also to keep certain features so that the heroes can recognize at a glance even during the most intense fighting sequences. Early battle costume design for Midnight Sun had a somewhat Arthurian medieval look, but in the end we chose a more elegant combination of old and new that reflects Doctor Strange’s powerful combination of stark technology and magic.
Strange glyphs stand on an armored plate with a gold filigree with stark black ballistic plastic parts. Also, the new costume frees the magical helper! Our goal was to transform traditional costumes into traditional superhero costumes by radiating supernatural energy.
Below are some examples of how we’ve redesigned the outfits for Midnight Sun, as well as some clues about the new look that has emerged from the mix of Stark and Slater Unlock in-game.
Spiders are human
The red and blue block sections are a great help in recognizing Spider-Man instantly. We also make sure that the spider web design is perfect, with a certain shape, design and consistency. This also applies to animations, which are characterized by a very distinctive acrobatic style and remarkable extreme posture.
To match Marvel’s Midnight Sons aesthetics, we’ve added sharp spike designs to the chest, back and arms of the Spider-Man costume and used the same size to create the Spider symbol. Even in his black and gold battle suits, Spider-Man is obscure because he uses his unique Midnight Suns abilities: he increases his power as he rolls in the air and shows the iconic posture immersed in the flames of Hellfire behind him.
Magic
For Magic’s Punk-style costume, we were inspired by comics like the 1992 series. Ghost Rider and Blaze: Spirit of Vengeance. Magic did not appear in these comics, but his supernatural ability to teleport through space and time would make him perfect for the series. To match her with the original outfit of this comics, we’ve added an embroidered black leather vest, belt and bracelet to her new mutant outfit.
Magic’s Black and Gold Midnight Suns Combat Costume is inspired by her later magical Aldrich Armor. New mutants And other comics. She transformed her into a medieval and fantasy-style heroine, perfectly matched to her favorite Soulsword weapon. Clothing unlocks the powerful darkchild power of magic, which allows him to take down all enemies at once and become impenetrable for the moment.
Wolverine
For Wolverine’s outfit we drew inspiration from her brown leather uniform from the 90’s because it was almost never presented in other games. The most important aspect of her appearance that we wanted to convey was the shape of her fingernails and helmet fins, which set her apart from other midnight sun with her strong structure.
We’ve added defined shapes for Wolverine’s Midnight Sun Fighting Costume featuring silhouettes on shoulder pads, arms and boots. Additionally, we’ve widened the helmet logs and added printed sizes to the rib cage panel lines. The end result is a bold and fitting look that reflects the skill Wolverine acquires while wearing the costume – his fierce nature is captured when he plunges his fingernails into the fire and attacks multiple enemies in blind rage.
Ghost rider
We’ve taken inspiration from the aforementioned comic series to create a Ghost Rider look at Marvel’s Midnight Sun. The spirit of revenge And his presence in the series All-New Ghost Rider Launched in 2014 with Robbie Reyes. The head is transformed into a metal skull reminiscent of its iconic muscle car lines, while the costume is inspired by the suits worn by racing drivers.
With the oversized Ghost Rider symbol and silhouette-defined golden armor, Robbie’s Midnight Sun Fighting Suit makes him even more like a monster spirit of revenge. In addition, he unlocks his terrifying austerity abilities, allowing him to control the enemy’s mind before exploding with Hellfire.
Iron man
Believe it or not, one of the main sources of inspiration for Tony Stark’s Iron Man costume was an iconic Italian sports car from the 1980’s, which, due to Stark’s bizarre attitude and passion for expensive cars, is not an outstanding choice. Tapered lines, rounded corners and consequently large ventilation holes give our Iron Man costumes a kind of look, but no less recognizable at a glance.
Stark’s Midnight Sons combat attire, on the other hand, has flashy features to showcase his skills. We polished the armor silhouette by adding a tongue of fire emanating from his arc reactor, using his Midnight Sun costume to create a column of hell using the ability to hit multiple opponents with a powerful destructive beam.
