Samsung started rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy S23 family in late March, and ever since it became available, many people have been complaining about touchscreen issues. In particular, the touchscreens of these devices sometimes do not register touch input correctly and you need to tap multiple times to register the touch.
It’s certainly very annoying, and now Samsung has finally acknowledged the problem, but there’s a twist. According to the Korean company, it’s mainly Google’s fault, as the problem appears to be caused by the Google app’s Discover feed, which can appear on the far left side of the home screen.
Samsung says Google is aware of the issue and is working to fix it once and for all. Until that happens, Samsung offers affected users a temporary solution: they should delete Google app data and then restart their devices. Once this is done, the touchscreen will register all your touches correctly.
To clear Google app data, go to Settings > Apps > Google > Storage and tap Clear data. You may then need to sign in to your Google Account again
Google will probably fix the problem by updating the Google app. Therefore, make sure to enable automatic updates on the Play Store If you’re impatient, you can always manually update all apps from the Play Store by tapping on your profile icon, selecting “Manage apps and devices,” and then tapping the “Update All” button.
