Samsung made it clear two weeks ago that the next Galaxy update is very important.
As a rule, Android security patches are certainly important, but rarely are truly critical and do not need to be installed immediately This will be different with the upcoming August update, as Samsung has already announced to reputable media Forbes. The upcoming update must be installed on Galaxy devices.
“It’s important to make sure you install it as soon as it becomes available for your model, region and carrier because this version is more important than most.”
There is a zero-day vulnerability that Samsung says will be fixed with the August 2024 update. The patch for the vulnerability in question now appears to be available earlier than expected. It was probably expected within the next 3 months. The loophole in the software is “actively exploited in the wild by forensics agencies.” So the new patch is very important.
With the upcoming August update available, the rollout will likely start on calendar week 32, maybe a little earlier, so Galaxy users should feel free to install it. Samsung is usually very quick and provides new security patches within days for current and older Galaxy devices.
