The arrival of the new charger suggests that fast charging isn’t making any headway at Samsung.
While Chinese smartphone manufacturers have repeatedly set new records in recent years for fast charging over 100 or 200 watts, Samsung, Google and Apple are very reserved on the matter. Samsung already offers more than the other two, but is still reserved.
The development of new chargers shows that this does not change. Like one of the best sources in the industry right now treachery Samsung is preparing new chargers for launch in the market. A Charger Duo with two USB-C ports is likely planned. But what doesn’t change much is its power, which in this case is a maximum of 50 watts.
There is also a new model number for the previous 45 watt charger, which will likely be refreshed. It’s not yet known what will be new or different, but the loading speed obviously isn’t. That’s why it doesn’t seem like Samsung is finally doing anything in terms of charging speed after the Galaxy S24 series, quite the opposite.
I don’t need 200W fast charging anymore. But with my Pixel 8 Pro I’m disappointed that we’re still under 30 watts. 45 watts from Samsung would be a big jump for me. But you can actually go into the 75 watt range.
