Samsung One UI 6.1.1: New audio features for better dialogue and adjustable volume on foldables.
Along with the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 earlier this month, Samsung also launched the latest version of its Android-based operating system, One UI 6.1.1. The update primarily aims to bring the latest Galaxy AI features to Samsung’s foldable, but it also includes a few small new features that improve productivity and the media experience.
Users sometimes have difficulty understanding dialogues in many movies or TV shows. This is because of the dramatic differences between the studio equipment used to record and edit these audios and the users’ end devices. This is why many users often turn on subtitles even when watching content in a language they understand. However, subtitles take up screen space, which is at a premium on smartphones like the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Fortunately, some streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video have recently started offering audio tracks with increased dialogue volume, making subtitles less necessary. However, many streaming platforms don’t offer this option at all, and even those that do don’t make it available for every content.
Samsung is equipping Galaxy cell phones with new sound functions
However, in One UI 6.1.1, users can navigate to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Sound Quality & Effects and enable the new “Amplify Dialog” option to increase the volume of system-wide dialogs. The feature works for playback through the device’s speakers and through a connected headset, including third-party headsets.
Another new audio feature in One UI 6.1.1 is “Volume Normalization” under Settings > Sound & Vibration > Sound Quality & Effects. As it describes, this function “prevents media playback from suddenly becoming too loud or too quiet,” for example, if you’re listening to music and switch to a track that’s significantly louder or quieter than the previous one. Adjusts the UI volume, so that the volume is consistent between tracks. (via Android Authority)
These innovations will likely come to OneUI 6.1.1 on other Galaxy devices when Samsung delivers updates for the Galaxy S, A and Co. in the coming months.
