Even if you’re not a big fan of Samsung, you have to admit that the South Koreans are currently doing a phenomenal job with updates. Even Google outstrips the company in updating their Android interface. Although four years, for which new software is promised, is already above average, there are exceptional cases where this period is much longer.
At least in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S8, which was presented in the spring of 2017 and is now more than five years old. It was the first smartphone from the manufacturer that followed the trend of the time and was delivered with a physical home button to be able to give more space to the display.
The update brings better GPS
The update package now offered isn’t exactly small at 420 MB, but it contains perhaps only a single improvement: GPS stability is said to be optimized. There are no security patches that Google releases every month. Here is the Samsung Galaxy S8 up to date even after installing the update from April 2021.
Like Dutch colleagues from Galaxyclub Reportedly, the Galaxy J7, which even predates the 2015 release, recently received similar treatment, at least in Asia. The distribution of the update should not be done with the S8 either. The Galaxy S6, S7 and S9 will likely benefit from more stable GPS.
