SIGMA has announced the 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary. This is the 7th lens in the All-Metal I series of Premium Compact Primes. It is available in L-mount and Sony E-mount.
The 20mm F2 is currently the widest lens in the I series. The lens features a small form factor and it weighs in at 370g / 13.05 oz.
It features a metal, knurled, petal-type lens hood, and a 62mm threaded front filter. All I The series lenses feature a distinctive arc-type AF / MF switch and stylized barrel design.
With an F2 aperture, this lens is a good choice for astrophotography, along with landscapes, cityscapes, street photography, low-light interiors, and other nighttime situations.
The optical construction of the lens includes three high-precision glass-molded aspherical lens elements, one SLD element, and one FLD element to suppress a range of optical aberrations. There is also Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating (NPC), which is claimed to ensure very minimal flare and ghosting even when shooting into bright light sources.
