At CineGear 2022 we got a chance to watch SmallHD’s Action 5 2000 Nits 5 Monitor. SmallHD has introduced a number of high-end monitors in the last few years, and many shooter SmallHD aspire for more affordable monitors with excellent PageOS type menu system. The HDMI Action 5 monitor is specifically designed to fill that void.
The SmallHD Action 5 has a Streamlined 5 ″ touchscreen with a build that weighs just over 0.5 pounds. Action 5 is designed for your on-the-go shoots who want a bright, lightweight and compact monitor.

Input
Action 5 is a 5 ″ monitor with HDMI input and output, headphone jack, LUTS and USB port for installing updates, 8VDC power out and DC power input. The monitor can be powered by Sony L and Canon LP-E6 batteries. You can also power it externally SmallHD D-Tap to Sony L-Series Faux Battery

Action 5 features 2000 net brightness, Which is perfect for outdoor use. It has a 1000: 1 contrast ratio, Rec. 709 color gamut, and multiple mounting points.
ActionOS
This monitor is powered by ActionOS, a simplified version of SmallHD’s professional-level PageOS software toolset that gives you the tools you need for out-of-the-box usability. The ActionOS toolset is designed to capture in 60 seconds. Using the touchscreen, you can easily select, adjust and toggle between the most important tools on the monitor, including Focus Assist, Exposure Tool and Look Tool.
